We had a nice Sunday afternoon finissage with some nice people taking their last chance to see the cabinet with Viktor Hachmangs work. And now Schrank is sadly empty. Schrank8 presents Viktor Hachmang - opening

We celebrated the opening with work by Viktor Hachmang past Friday. The Schrank was looking super bright, colorful, narrative and in my eyes spectaculair.

No opening without my favorite barladies Babette and Suzanne. Thanks a million for helping with the arrangements, keeping track of the snacks and serving beers. This time Schrank was also assisted by Johnny Brankaert who does his internship at my studio.

This week we made the arrangement for the 8th exhibition in Schrank8 Home Gallery. I'm super excited to have the work of Viktor Hachmang in the cabinet. The offline experience truly surpasses the online representation (although that already looks great!). It was great to get to know Viktor and his girlfriend / partner in crime Eline a bit better over a day of work, a dinner and some beers. I enjoyed listening to their stories on how works were established, associations from comics, comments on art, mixed with daily life and Pinocchio hang-ups. The cabinet is filled with a high quality portfolio and only at the end of the evening I realized this solid body of work was made during the course of only one year. Way to go Viktor!

Viktor Hachmang's work passed by my eyes numerous times online. His bold, delicate, thorough, clever, precise and outstanding images pulled my strings. In my eyes he seems to work as an orchestrater of elements, as a set designer, as an inventor of machines, brewing creatures as a doctor Frankenstein while painting us a picture as a historical narrator from the future. His work makes me jealous, excited and longing for more. We met up for a beer in The Hague. He showed me the scarf, the dinner plate, the pin, the posters, the illustrations, some of which seemed to be instant classics. It impressed me even more than the online appearance. Because he only just recently graduated I didn't want to rush him, but anxiously wanted to show his work. Over the months that passed, his collection grew and the quality kept rising. It's promising to be a very nice edition of Schrank8. You're invited to come over and have a look for yourself!
